Certifications

Certifications have been put in place to ensure that products meet guidelines of sustainability, recycled content, conservation, and environmental stewardship. Many of these certifications are listed below, detailing their purposes and noting which of these products are carried by EcoSpaces. Other products carried by EcoSpaces, not listed below, follow similar environmental guidelines. As well, EcoSpaces works with many companies that are members of the United States Green Building Council.

Green Building Codes

Green Building Codes are becoming more prevelant, both regionally and nationally, from voluntary to prescriptive. Many of the Green Building programs available are listed here, giving a quick access to what each code offers and how your project can be compliant. Building a green home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants. Benefits include lower energy and water bills; reduced greenhouse gas emissions; and less exposure to mold, mildew and other indoor toxins. Also, building a green home means making environmentally-preferable and sustainable decisions throughout the building process, decisions that will minimize the environmental impact of the home while it is being built and over the many years it will be lived in. |
